Free Mermaid Coloring Pages—Dive into the World of Fantasy

I always get extremely inspired by summer and the wonderful colors that come with it! Plus, summer is the perfect time to spend a relaxing warm day outdoors or a cozy rainy day indoors coloring cute mermaids. Unfortunately, summer is already leaving us (unless you live in a place with perpetual summer) but that doesn’t mean we can’t draw and color mermaids in autumn or winter!

I originally drew these two free mermaid coloring pages a few years ago. There were a few things I wasn’t happy with, so I decided to redraw them before sharing them with you.

How to color pearls and beads easily

The first mermaid coloring page has a long pearl/bead necklace. If you have never colored pearls before and have no idea where to start, don’t worry, I have two simple methods for you below!

1. Easy and quick

First, color the pearls with a light color. Then choose a darker color and color a circle in the middle as shown above. To add the white highlight, you can use a white gel pen or acrylic paint if you are coloring traditionally.

If you don’t own a white gel pen or acrylic paint: Sketch the highlights first by drawing a circle on each bead with the lightest color. So if you are coloring the pearls blue, use light blue. Then just simply color around the highlights! You might even get a nice glowy effect this way.

You could also use a white colored pencil to color the highlights first. Faber-Castell’s white Polychromos colored pencil is my favorite when I want to leave certain spots white or lighter. You still have to be careful not to color over the white (especially if you like to color with a heavy hand) but you can be much sloppier!

2. For those who love details

Follow the same steps as before: color the pearls with a light color and then color a circle in the middle of the pearls with a darker color.

After that, pick an even darker color and once again color a small circle in the middle. Grab a white gel pen or acrylic paint and add one big and one small highlight.

I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing time coloring these free mermaid coloring pages! You can find the download link below.
